With their main office in Oakland, they are seeking a Chief Estimator with hard-bid and design-build-bid experience to join their team long term. Key Responsibilities of a Chief Estimator | Healthcare/Public Works - East Bay Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Solicit bids and ensure appropriate coverage and competitiveness. Review estimates for accuracy, consistency, and risk assessment. Assign responsibilities and ensure deadlines are met. Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects Oversee all phases of the estimating process: conceptual, schematic, design development, and final bid. Collaborate with executives, business development, and project management teams to craft bid strategies. Present and defend estimates to ownership teams, clients, and internal stakeholders. Identify potential cost risks, scope gaps, and constructability concerns. Recommend value engineering alternatives to reduce costs without sacrificing quality or performance. Attend design meetings and provide pricing feedback to owners and architects. Help guide preconstruction decisions based on budget constraints and project goals. A successful Chief Estimator | Healthcare/Public Works - East Bay Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline 10-20+ years in estimating or preconstruction, with progressive leadership experience. Proven track record with negotiated projects in the Education, Healthcare, and Public Works sectors Familiarity with Hard Bid, Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build project delivery methods Ability to identify and leverage cost-saving opportunities throughout the estimating process Strong understanding of current market conditions and industry trends Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff software What's on Offer
