Job Description The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and tied for the No. 1 hospital in Texas by U.S. News and World Report (2023-2024), is seeking applicants for Chief of Neuroradiology and Intervention. This individual is expected to make a significant impact in the field of Neuroradiology by leading the team and contributing to a collegial environment that will promote the academic and clinical growth of the division.
The candidate must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree or foreign equivalent, have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Neuroradiology, be American Board of Radiology-certified, and have an ABR-subspecialty certification in Neuroradiology. Eligibility for full Texas medical license and its acquisition prior to start of employment is required. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
The candidate will be a committed leader and have the ability to provide high-quality clinical services; initiate research projects; actively engage in teaching of residents and fellows; participate in quality improvement and value initiatives; and assist division members to excel in their academic missions. The candidate will be a committed leader with deep expertise in all aspects of neuroradiology, including interpreting the full range of diagnostic imaging studies, knowledge of image-guided spine procedures, and providing consultations to referring physicians. The candidate is expected to be superior in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology and capable of teaching CT, angiography, myelography, and MRI to neuroradiology fellows, Radiology residents, and medical students through didactic lectures and participation in various multidisciplinary conferences.
Neuroradiology Division, & Facilities: •Growing Neuroradiology practice with 20 faculty members, 7 diagnostic fellows, and 2 neuro IR fellows •ACGME-accredited fellowship program in neuroradiology and Texas Medical Board-accredited fellowship program in endovascular surgical •neuroradiology/neuroendovascular surgery •Central reading rooms at Parkland Hospital and Clements University Hospital and associated outpatient clinic •Freestanding reading stations located throughout the hospital systems •Remote conferencing capabilities to allow participation in virtual resident read-out sessions, lectures, and multidisciplinary conferences
Cutting Edge Technologies •Magnetoencephalography (MEG) - the most advanced MEG technology available and the only MEG in Dallas (200 MEG patients per year) •Optically Pumped Magnetometer (OPM) system •MRI Guided Transcranial HiFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) •Performed first commercial staged, bilateral MRgHiFU •7T whole body MRI scanner •Photon-counting CT, PET-CT, and PET-MRI
Research Environment: •Research interests are supported by a culture of collaboration with our strong basic science and clinical teams within the department and across the campus •Interdisciplinary care conferences that serve as springboards for clinically relevant research •Robust research coaching and mentorship •NIH-funded clinical and basic science investigators and projects •Advanced clinical and pre-clinical instruments and resources •National and international collaborations •Multiple clinical trials: liquid biopsy & drug delivery
