In this role, you will be part of Magna-Power's R&D team, developing controls and integrating them with power electronics for multi-kilowatt programmable DC power supplies. Responsibilities include modeling control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink, translating them into reliable C firmware on TI C2000 MCUs, and validating designs on custom PCBs. You will collaborate closely with various teams from concept to production, with hands-on training provided due to the product complexity. Key Responsibilities: Developing and refining control models in MATLAB/Simulink and generating production-quality C code. Tuning digital compensators (PI/PID, state-space, predictive control). Writing, optimizing, and documenting firmware for TI C2000 and other 32-bit MCUs. Developing low-level drivers for ADC, PWM, timers, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet, etc. Implementing high-resolution PWM strategies for hard-switching. Interfacing firmware with power circuitry components. Characterizing converter efficiency, thermal performance, and dynamic response. Designing PCBs in Altium for high-voltage and mixed-signal layouts. Debugging prototypes using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and current probes. Creating automated testing scripts in Python/LabVIEW. Preparing electrical specifications, BOMs, test plans, and contributing to compliance documentation and patent applications. Leading design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising with suppliers and manufacturers. Supporting field failure analysis and product sustainment in volume production. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master's preferred. 3-5 years of experience in Power Electronics Engineering. Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and circuit modeling. Proficiency with Texas Instruments C2000 microcontrollers. Experience in hardware design, schematic capture, and real-time operating systems. Knowledge of communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C). Familiarity with laboratory test equipment and software development tools (GIT, issue tracking). Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Magna-Power offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurances, FSA, 401(k) with match, paid time off, sick leave, and tuition reimbursement.
