Job Summary

W e are seeking an experienced EMS Applications Engineer to support a broad portfolio of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and real-time power system applications. These include Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Frequency Control, Load Forecasting, Dynamic Stability Analysis, and the Operator Training Simulator (OTS). This role involves application design, development, validation, and production support, contributing to real-time system reliability and operational efficiency.

Job Description

Design, develop, test, validate, and implement modifications and enhancements to EMS applications. Provide support and troubleshooting for EMS and OTS systems as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation. Support EMS functions including State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Flow, Load Forecasting, and Load Frequency Control. Assist with enhancements, issue resolution, and testing for both EMS and Real-Time Nodal Market applications. Perform real-time model load testing and apply updates as necessary. Coordinate application setups and testing activities with Market Participants. Validate EMS applications during failovers, server/database upgrades, and system patching. Execute and support Disaster Recovery drills and business continuity procedures. Maintain and repair EMS/OTS interfaces and escalate issues when necessary. Act as a subject matter expert in EMS and OTS systems, contributing to interdepartmental projects and stakeholder meetings. Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts. Develop tools, procedures, and processes that enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. Collaborate with database and infrastructure teams to resolve system-wide EMS issues. Test non-functional requirements for application changes, including performance and scalability. Stay up-to-date with emerging industry trends and best practices in EMS technologies. Job Skills Required

Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in EMS or related system application support Strong technical expertise in power system applications and EMS technologies Proficient with system design, testing, and troubleshooting in real-time operational environments Familiarity with database systems, server infrastructure, and interface configuration Experience with application failover, system upgrades, and performance validation Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Additional Requirements

On-call support as part of a 24/7 rotation Occasional participation in disaster recovery and system failover drills Collaborative, fast-paced technical environment Involvement in strategic and operational projects impacting energy market and grid reliability GE Systems and habitat Systems Preferred
