The mission of the Adaptive Sports Association (ASA) is to provide outdoor sport and recreational experiences for people with disabilities. These activities are provided regardless of individual financial limitations and create a fun atmosphere for learning and enhanced self-esteem.

Want to apply Read all the information about this position below, then hit the apply button. The Adaptive Sports Association (ASA) offers seasonal internship opportunities. If interested in therapeutic recreation, group and individual outdoor adventure education, or working with individuals with disabilities, this organization will provide a unique environment to develop your skills. An ideal candidate will have experience in outdoor recreation (skiing/snowboarding, cycling, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding). Interns will assist in providing recreation experiences in conjunction with full-time/seasonal staff and volunteers while supporting the Adaptive Sports Association’s mission and organizational goals. This position is offered in the summer and winter in accordance to hours needed by the student. ASA offers both paid and unpaid internships. Interns will be involved with all aspects of the winter and/or summer programs including program planning, implementation, evaluations, leading clinics, equipment maintenance, and other miscellaneous office duties and projects. Time will be spent both indoors and outdoors. Percentage of time in and out will depend on individual intern requirements. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Each intern will work directly with the program director to design an internship agreement that outlines specific responsibilities and expectations of both the intern and the program staff at ASA. This will be completed and mutually agreed upon before the start of the internship. ASA meets the requirement to host a CTRS student. Paid internships require a minimum of 32 hrs/week. Requirements: High School Graduate or equivalent, college degree or in process of degree Ability to communicate effectively with staff, participants, and volunteers Capable of working independently and thinking creatively Ability/willingness to lead adaptive lessons/trips Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs Current First Aid/CPR and/or Wilderness First Responder preferred Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Adaptive certification preferred (winter), but not required CO or Utah Commercial Raft Guide Certification preferred (summer), but not required Benefits for Paid Interns: Housing assistance PSIA/AASI exam fee compensation (winter) Purgatory Resort season pass discount (winter) Local business discounts Access to ASA equipment Resumes are accepted on an ongoing basis.
