August 2025 Scope: Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a nonprofit organization established to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Since 1998, we have operated Zach's Place, the only licensed childcare facility in Colorado offering specialized child and respite care for youth (ages 2.5 to 18). We seek an experienced childcare director to lead and expand our program, aiming to create a comprehensive healthcare hub for marginalized populations. Duties: Implement organizational policies and procedures for Zach’s Place and agency operations. Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations, including standards for child care, health care policies, and state licensing requirements. Promote program expansion to serve more children and families and incorporate additional services like behavioral health, physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Collaborate with the Executive Director and management staff to develop and enforce program policies and procedures. Work with Human Resources for staff recruitment, evaluation, and policy implementation. Oversee the program’s budget in partnership with administrative staff and the Executive Director, ensuring financial sustainability and access to financial aid for participants. Create and execute an annual staff training plan to meet identified needs. Manage transportation services and address related needs. Prepare reports on statistics, outcomes, intake data, and billing for management and the Board of Directors. Build relationships with local and state agencies and coalitions relevant to Zach’s Place. Oversee client intake, assessments, and progress tracking as per individualized care plans. Use positive, solution-focused techniques to foster effective relationships with staff and families, encouraging family participation in supportive activities. Hold regular staff meetings and conduct quarterly reviews with caregivers. Ensure child and staff files comply with licensing standards. Assist in identifying growth opportunities through grant development and fundraising. Address safety and maintenance issues promptly to ensure a safe environment. Participate in marketing efforts through resource fairs, events, and collaboration with marketing and fundraising teams. Coordinate staff scheduling, including on-call systems. Provide direct care when necessary. Attend training sessions as directed by supervisors. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from an accredited Colorado institution, or Master’s degree emphasizing child development, early childhood education, or early childhood special education, or Completion of specified coursework in early childhood professions, guidance strategies, health, curriculum development, and related areas, totaling at least three semester hours in each subject from an accredited college or university. Persons with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant fields or a Level IV early childhood professional credential as per Colorado Department of Education qualify without additional experience. Must have large daycare center director qualifications or be eligible for approval by CDHS. A minimum of one year of direct care experience with children, especially those with disabilities, is required. Additional requirements include a physical exam, TB test if needed, valid driver’s license, insurance, good driving record, ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and move quickly. Supervisory experience of at least four years is preferred.
