South College is seeking dynamic, experienced, and motivated candidates for a full-time Program Director’s position for their Respiratory Therapy Program. The Program Director must not only provide effective leadership for the new program including ongoing program planning, curriculum development, course scheduling, and assessment, communication with stakeholders and accreditation bodies, and fiscal management (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Accreditation standard), completing, and administering, budget allocations, recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty but also provide leadership and commitment to innovative and relevant education for students. The position is located at South College, Knoxville, TN 37922, Parkside Campus. Overseeing the new program and its successful operation. Submitting necessary documents to CoARC and meeting all deadlines specified by CoARC and the Leadership Team. Leading efforts for program initiation includes securing appropriate clinical sites, acquiring programmatic accreditation, completing, and administering the learning site budget allocations, recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty. Maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service. Developing and maintaining collaborations with other colleges/programs for interprofessional educational opportunities. Collaboration and consultation with faculty to promote maximum commitment and results. Organizing faculty teaching loads and quarterly class schedules. Representing the program in the community at large. Providing instruction for courses each quarter. Required skills:

Excellent oral communication and written skills. Demonstrates respiratory therapy knowledge and skills to instruct students effectively. Self-directed with knowledge of effectively managing faculty and staff, teaching techniques, problem-solving skills, and more. Ability to evaluate students in the teaching/learning lab environment. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Knowledge of current trends and issues in Respiratory Therapy education and practice. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with starting a program, planning, assessment, and evaluation process. Education, Certificates, Licenses and Experience

Graduate from an approved CoARC institution. Bachelor of Science in a healthcare related field of study. Master’s or Doctorate degree preferred. Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Valid Tennessee Respiratory Therapy license. A minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs. Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program. Additional advanced-level professional credential(s) preferred. Experience with program accreditation and regulatory compliance. Experience (5 years or more) as Program Director and in initiating, developing, successfully running, and exceeding all the benchmarks in a Respiratory Therapy program. Proven track record of 90% or higher passing rates in NBRC for the last 5 years or more. Experience in Curriculum Development. Familiarity with planning, assessment, and evaluation process. Experience in Distance learning model. Experience in creating a bachelor’s in respiratory therapy (ASRT to BSRT) program.
