Position Overview This role involves assisting the Director in daily staffing, work assignments, and staff competency. The Work Leader ensures the proper collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and dispensing of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, supporting Virtua’s commitment to the highest clinical quality. Key Responsibilities
Assess, observe, prioritize workflow, assign tasks, and lead staff to ensure efficient department operation. Serve as a resource for staff. Complete surgical instrument needs lists and notify relevant parties of shortages. Prepare, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into trays or packages for sterilization. Collect, clean, and disinfect patient care and surgical instruments from various clinical areas. Perform quality improvement and assurance activities. Ensure accurate documentation of department records. Monitor and document results of decontamination and sterilization processes. Coordinate orientation and retraining of staff as needed. Support best practices in CSS, maintaining necessary credentials. Fill in as Supervisor in the absence of the Department Supervisor. Deliver patient care equipment, manage inventory, and replenish supplies for the department and OR case carts. Qualifications
2-3 years of experience as a CSS Technician. Strong communication, delegation, and prioritization skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset. Education and Certifications
High School diploma or GED required. Certified through a recognized national sterile processing program by the NJDOH, CRCST/CBSPD required.
