About the Department The PME Esser-Kahn Lab at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (https://pme.uchicago.edu/) is seeking a part-time Research Specialist with expertise in vaccine development. The lab focuses on designing adjuvants that mimic natural pathogen immune activation to develop safer, more effective vaccines. Responsibilities

Design and conduct research projects, analyze data, and maintain specimens. Contribute ideas for solving complex technical problems and explore new application areas. Stay updated on latest developments, participate in grant proposals, interpret data, and communicate findings effectively. Publish papers, present at scientific meetings, support data collection, and ensure compliance with policies. Support research activities including literature reviews, report writing, and recruiting research subjects. Minimum Qualifications A college or university degree in a related field, with 2-5 years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher in biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, or related fields. At least two years of research experience, including techniques like cell culture, western blot, PCR, flow cytometry, and mouse models. Technical Skills

Proficiency with laboratory equipment and relevant scientific techniques. Knowledge of research policies, immune experimentation methods, and animal handling is a plus. Competencies

Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams. Conditions & Application Laboratory environment; 25 hours/week; hourly pay rate of $27-$32; benefits eligible.
