what you will do:
We have a tremendous opportunity for a Manager of Major Projects to oversee large-scale public infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for project management tasks, client management, interdisciplinary management, agency coordination, and technical content related to major public infrastructure projects. Typical tasks for this position include the oversight and management of the preparation of design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for public bidding; managing, mentoring, and cultivating staff; client and sub-consultant management and coordination; tracking of project budgets; delegation of work tasks to supporting staff; quality control of all design submissions; and extensive knowledge with one or more of MassDOT, MBTA, and DCR project development guidelines, policies, and procedures. This position may manage major project design scopes that include but are not limited to complex highway or parkway interchanges, restoration of parkland, major environmental documentation, structural rehabilitations and replacements, utility relocations, interagency coordination, and robust public processes. The candidate would also help the firm add new major projects to the company’s backlog.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to take projects from concept level to construction and have deep knowledge of all matters related to the project development cycle with stakeholders of all experience and knowledge levels. This position is part of the firm’s strategic growth initiative; the candidate will also be part of business development efforts, increasing company backlog, expanding professional partnerships, and hiring and onboarding of strategic hires to grow the team.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering P.E. license in Massachusetts. Additional New England states desirable. 10+ years of complex project management experience and direct coordination with clients. Experience with MassDOT, DCR, and MBTA project development procedures, standards, and deliverables. Significant experience managing multidisciplinary major projects (construction value $10M+). High level of proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience directly supervising multiple staff Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams within the company and external strategic partners Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze, and resolve problems and issues. Excellent organizational skills to manage details for multiple ongoing large projects including deliverables, schedule, budget, teams, clients, etc. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all project stakeholders.
