This position is in our Central Valley, California territory. Positions serving territories away from our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio, are fully remote. Starting pay:
The pay range for this position is $149,500 - $224,250 annually. Pay is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance. Be ready to:
Develop and manage a large contract surety book for the assigned territory by: Identifying opportunities and working with agencies to write new accounts Conducting meetings with agents and contractors Evaluating principals, operationally and financially, for surety credit Approving bonds and programs within assigned authority Recommending underwriting decisions on bonds or accounts exceeding authority Understanding and employing the company’s underwriting approach and philosophy Performing analysis and recording activity in underwriting and administrative systems Appointing new agency relationships that focus on surety development Developing and maintaining close agency relationships Displaying professionalism, underwriting expertise, and familiarity with the local construction and economic environment Supporting commercial surety and small contract lines with related tools, procedures, and objectives Developing growth and profitability plans, including cross-selling strategies, for all surety lines Communicating effectively with associates, agencies, and customers Giving polished surety presentations to agents and bond principals Traveling to meet with agents, account executives, and bond principals in your territory Be equipped with:
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong organizational and decision-making skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with financial analysis and construction accounting methods Existing agency and contractor relationships (preferred) The ability to evaluate and interpret bonds, contracts, credit reports, and loan agreements The ability to adapt to change, manage multiple tasks, work independently and with others, set goals, and deliver superior service Bring education and experience from:
A bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance, accounting, or economics) A minimum of five years of surety underwriting experience focusing on larger contractors Additional training or designations such as AFSB, CPCU, or related courses Enhance your talents Providing outstanding service and developing strong relationships with our independent agents are hallmarks of our company.
