The Director of Quality Enablement will lead the strategy, development, and execution of system-wide quality improvement (QI) education and capability building across Emory Healthcare Reporting to the Corporate Director of Quality Strategy and Operations and aligning with the Vice President, Quality Strategy and Operations, this role is essential to advancing Emory Healthcare's commitment to high reliability, continuous improvement, and excellent patient outcomes The Director will assess educational needs across the Office of Quality and the broader enterprise while introducing scalable QI learning solutions They will build cross-functional partnerships to align training, development, and improvement efforts The role also includes overseeing a centralized QI project repository, a QI design framework, and the evaluation of improvement initiative impact Strategic Leadership and Learning Development:
Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive learning strategy for Quality Improvement (QI) and patient outcomes education across Emory Healthcare Conduct needs assessments across the Office of Quality and enterprise departments to identify gaps and opportunities for skill development in QI methodology and patient safety science Develop, implement, and refine a QI design framework and associated education pathways for leaders, teams, and staff Serve as an advisor for internal and external education and professional development resources (e.g., IHI, NAHQ, Lean Six Sigma, academic partners)
Program Design and Delivery:
Develop and manage immersive, blended learning programs that integrate adult learning principles and real-world application in healthcare QI Oversee the creation of educational materials, toolkits, simulations, workshops, and e-learning modules that promote sustainable QI practices Partner with nursing quality leadership to support nurse-driven improvement initiatives and build nursing development pathways for QI leadership Align QI educational programs with system strategic priorities and ensure learning initiatives support improved patient outcomes and operational excellence
Quality Improvement Infrastructure and Systems:
Establish and manage a centralized repository for enterprise-wide QI projects, ensuring visibility, continuity, and opportunities for scale and spread Develop systems and processes that enable staff to build upon existing improvement work and avoid duplication of efforts Provide structured consultation and coaching for clinical and non-clinical teams engaging in QI initiatives Analyze aggregate QI project outcomes and report on return on investment (ROI), impact, and strategic alignment
Collaboration and Partnership:
Partner with the Office of Operational Excellence, Nursing Quality, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Rollins School of Public Health, Population Health Collaborative, Emory Healthcare Network, and Emory service lines to align education and QI efforts Drive collaboration across clinical, academic, and administrative stakeholders to create synergistic development opportunities Serve as a strategic liaison to internal and external learning resources and ensure integrated talent development approaches
Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required Work Type: Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field In lieu of a Master's degree, 10+ years of healthcare experience with relevant QI and education expertise Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership in learning, organizational development, or healthcare quality improvement Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level learning programs with measurable impact Strong background in QI methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Model for Improvement) and adult learning principles Experience in healthcare settings and familiarity with clinical improvement cultures Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): Strong project management and strategic planning skills High proficiency in analyzing data and outcomes to inform strategy and continuous improvement Excellent facilitation, presentation, and coaching abilities Ability to influence and collaborate across complex matrixed organizations Demonstrated executive presence, adaptability, and ability to navigate ambiguity Preferred Qualifications Licenses
Six-Sigma and/or Lean Certification CPHQ certification required or obtained within two years Instructional design or professional coaching certification preferred
