Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager, Data and Reporting to join our globally focused, Boston based, Actuarial Reporting team. We are looking for an individual who has both an ability to excel and an excellence of character. The Manager, Data and Reporting will be responsible for a wide variety of projects central to enhancing BHSI’s analytics and reporting capabilities within the global actuarial team. The Manager, Data and Reporting will collaborate with various functions across the organization and drive projects and deliverables for the team. The ideal individual will have both management experience and the technical abilities to query and analyze data. The individual will manage teammate(s) and/or processes and demonstrate collaborative qualities to work with actuaries, underwriters, operations, and IT across various data related initiatives. A candidate with a passion for problem solving with data and a desire to constantly learn and apply new skills will be successful in this role.
Duties & Responsibilities
Utilize SQL to identify, extract, interpret, and analyze data for reporting and analysis Proactively engage with actuaries and business units to understand reporting requirements and translate them into meaningful output Drive data-related initiatives across a multitude of platforms for audiences across all products, regions, and management to support businessneedsand underwriting results Perform data validations and reconciliations between various sources and reports with precision and attention to detail to ensure deliverables are accurate and effective Coordinate and implement the integration ofvarious data sourcesto a central repositorythrough sound testing, documentation, and execution of strategy Provide technical support to actuaries and underwriters through tools such as SQL, Excel, PowerBI, etc. Develop, grow and retain a small team of data analysts
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
Bachelor’s degree inBusiness, Analytics,Computer Scienceor related field 6+ years of analytical experience, within insurance industry highly preferred 1+ years of management experience Advanced proficiency of SQL and Excel required Experience in Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, R, Python programming preferred Familiarity with data modelling and experience working within complex data environments Proven track record of collaboration across functions delivering quality results in an efficient manner Intellectual curiosity anda passion for analyzinglarge volumes of datato generate insights Solid oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to workboth independentlyand on teams Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates. Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time

The base salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $115,000 - $145,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
