Mount Pleasant Campus Work Schedule : Part time or Full Time (open for discussion) Position Summary JRNYFriends is a ministry dedicated to serving adults with intellectual disabilities. The Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ministry, ensuring alignment with Journey Church's mission and vision while incorporating outreach and discipleship opportunities through Young Life Capernaum. This role involves strategic planning, volunteer leadership, and program development to create a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment for adults and young adults with intellectual disabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the JRNYFriends ministry by developing and executing its vision and goals in alignment with Journey Church and Young Life Capernaum, overseeing programs and events, ensuring compliance with policies, and implementing Young Life's engagement and discipleship models. Oversee JRNYFriends volunteer coordination by recruiting, training, and mentoring volunteers, conducting interviews and background checks, facilitating team meetings and training, and collaborating with Young Life regional staff for ongoing development. Manage the intake process, support families through communication and updates, create an inclusive community for participants, and encourage family involvement in Young Life Capernaum activities. Lead by example in Christ-centered living, foster spiritual growth in participants and volunteers, provide opportunities for worship and learning, train leaders in spiritual connection, and encourage discipleship within the church and Young Life Capernaum. Utilize management tools for scheduling and communication, maintain accurate records, oversee the program budget, and collaborate with Young Life Capernaum leadership to track impact and growth opportunities. Complete responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable procedures as assigned. Engage with Young Life's Church Partnership initiative to further expand the reach of JRNYFriends and Capernaum within the community. Qualifications / Characteristics
A deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to serve individuals with disabilities. A commitment to Young Life's mission of inviting teens and young adults with disabilities to discover authentic friendship, growth, and purpose. Experience in program management, volunteer leadership, or a related field. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with self-motivation and time management abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating empathy and the ability to build relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and participants. Flexibility and sensitivity to adapt to the unique needs of individuals while working collaboratively within a team environment. Willingness to engage in outreach activities such as attending Special Olympics games, community events, and church-wide initiatives. Serve weekly, demonstrating punctuality, preparedness, and a servant-hearted attitude. Model a Christ-like lifestyle in personal and professional settings. Commit to ongoing training and personal spiritual growth through Journey Church and Young Life. Uphold the mission and values of Journey Church and the JRNYFriends ministry. Partner with Young Life leadership to recruit volunteers and create sustainable outreach initiatives.
