Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director . The Program Director reports directly to the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) at Creighton University School of Medicine-Phoenix and the Chair at the primary training site. The role includes protected, non-clinical time dedicated to program administration. The Gastroenterology Program is a three-year, six-fellow program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). In 2017, Creighton University, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Valleywise Health Medical Center, District Medical Group, and Dignity Health Medical Group formed a strategic partnership to enhance Graduate Medical Education programs under the Arizona Health Education Alliance, with Creighton University-Phoenix as the sponsor. Primary clinical sites include St. Joseph Hospital and Valleywise Health Medical Center. Creighton University-Phoenix is committed to training future physicians to excel in hospital-based, ambulatory, and subspecialty care. Our program fosters inquiry and collaboration, supporting physicians at all career stages to grow professionally and personally in Gastroenterology. Essential Responsibilities include: Administer and maintain an environment conducive to educating fellows across all ACGME core competency areas. Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education. Develop and review program curricula. Monitor fellow supervision at all participating sites. Prepare and submit all required information to ACGME, including annual program updates in Web ADS, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with DIO and GMEC on accreditation matters. Ensure compliance with institutional and site policies. Promote fellow well-being and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical and academic settings. Lead fellow recruitment, serve on the Program Evaluation Committee, and participate in the Clinical Competency Committee as a non-voting member. Facilitate bidirectional communication with fellows and faculty. Coordinate schedules and programs to maximize learning and minimize clinical workflow disruption, including meeting procedure volumes. Oversee remediation processes as needed. Provide semiannual performance evaluations with feedback to each fellow. Develop faculty evaluation and participation processes based on evaluations. Minimum Requirements: MD or DO degree with current certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or acceptable subspecialty qualifications. Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment. At least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or gastroenterology fellowship. Ongoing clinical activity and academic achievement in gastroenterology, including publications, educational program development, or research. Eligibility for State of Arizona medical licensure. Ability to obtain hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals and Valleywise Health Medical Center. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
