Director of Transmission Grid Operations
to lead our Transmission Operations Center (TOC) in the ERCOT region.
This role reports to the
Vice President of Operations
and is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient flow of electricity across our transmission network, including a 300 MW HVDC tie to Mexico’s CFE grid. Key responsibilities include developing new TOC facilities, staffing, training, and ensuring compliance with NERC, TRE, and ERCOT standards.
Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in electric power systems, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of industry regulations. The position offers the opportunity to lead a critical function in a growing, innovative energy company and to be at the forefront of grid modernization and cross-border energy integration.
Responsibilities include:
Project Management:
Siting, designing, constructing, and commissioning TOC facilities.
Personnel Management:
Staffing, training, mentoring teams, fostering safety and continuous improvement.
Compliance:
Developing and overseeing processes compliant with industry standards and supporting audit efforts.
Grid Operations:
Managing system operations, outage planning, emergency management, and asset performance.
Strategic Planning:
Developing strategies for system enhancement and technology integration.
Budget Management:
Managing operational and capital budgets.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborating with ERCOT, regulators, and external partners.
Required Skills & Experience:
Deep understanding of high-voltage transmission and ERCOT protocols.
Proven leadership in transmission operations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of regulations, standards, and operating protocols.
Ability to lead in a dynamic environment.
Ownership mindset.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 15 years in transmission grid operations with increasing responsibilities.
Preferred: MSEE or MBA, and management experience in a control center.
