Policy Staff Officer II
to support the
HUMINT & Sensitive Activities Directorate
within the
Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD(I&S)) . This is a mission-critical space where policy meets precision. This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of sensitive special operations and intelligence activities within the Department of Defense. You will operate at the intersection of military operations, national security strategy, and high-level decision-making—advising senior DoD leaders with real-time intelligence and critical insights. Responsibilities and Success FactorsPolicy Development and Coordination
Support oversight, management, and alignment of complex, high-stakes sensitive programs and activities. Contribute to policy development and execution with implications for special operations and national security. Provide rapid, well-informed policy recommendations and briefings for senior DoD leadership. Research and Analysis
Conduct in-depth research and prepare executive-level materials on intelligence and policy issues involving HUMINT, irregular warfare, and special operations support. Deliver actionable insights to shape operational priorities and policy evolution. Strategy and Policy Implementation
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and refining strategic policies for sensitive activities. Drive implementation efforts to improve coordination, situational awareness, and decision-making across defense intelligence units. Minimum Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance are required. Bachelor’s Degree required. At least 3 years of experience with Special Operations Forces and/or clandestine operations. At least 3 years of experience in policy development and strategic advisory roles. Strong critical thinking, analytical writing, and communication skills.
