The Business Segment Director is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with customers, providing leadership to all Sauder internal resources aligned to and supporting the business segment, and ensuring that the business segment is meeting expectations of both customers and Sauder. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership for effectively managing, strengthening, and growing the customer business relationship. Acts as customer’s primary Sauder contact. Develops the vision and strategy for developing and optimizing product mix, volume, and profitability of the business segment. Collaborates with connected suppliers and internal functional areas to ensure understanding and alignment of their role in deploying and supporting the segment business strategy. Develops processes and resources to ensure compliance with customer standards. Establishes and monitors business segment key performance indicators to ensure the business segment is meeting both customer and Sauder’s expectations. Develops appropriate initiatives to address needed improvements and corrective actions. Leads and promotes continuous improvement of the master scheduling, product costing, business development, compliance, quality, and order fulfillment functions of the customer business relationship. Develops demand planning projections and partners with the manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and order fulfillment teams to achieve operational goals and cost objectives. Evaluates, prioritizes, and coordinates the quotation process when needed, and implements new business opportunities with customers consistent with the larger Sauder strategic plan. Supports the identification and justification of capital projects for the purpose of supporting new business and/or improving performance and capabilities. Ensures that such projects are incorporated into financial projections for supplier development and price development purposes. Prepares P&L plan for the business segment and monitors it throughout the year, taking corrective actions as needed. As a member of the operations leadership team, contributes to the identification, development, and implementation of corporate and operations policies, procedures, and systems. Ensures that those systems are adapted to the specific needs of the customer’s business when necessary. Ensures that the business segment is operating within established corporate and manufacturing policies and procedures and takes corrective action when not in compliance. Directly manages a dedicated customer support team (e.g., engineering, quality, compliance, etc.). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises salaried and/or hourly employees. Also, indirectly responsible for other direct and indirect hourly and/or salaried employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong sales and negotiation abilities. Analytical skills to interpret data and identify customer needs. Ability to build rapport and trust with customers. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or finance from a four-year college or university plus a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. PAY SUMMARY Expected offer range: $93,000 - $124,000. The actual salary will be based on factors such as relevant experience and skills. The max salary listed is not the top of the salary band.
