Job Description: Resolution Economics' Financial Advisory Services ('FAS') team is seeking a highly motivated individual for the Manager position in its Chicago office. As a Manager, you will be part of a team providing one or more of the following services to clients: arbitration and litigation services, complex investigations, fraud and forensic accounting assignments, merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory services, insurance claims, contract compliance, and corporate compliance program assessments. These matters often involve commercial disputes, accounting malpractice, fraud, forensic accounting, asset tracing, cash flow analysis, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, economic damages, and/or valuation issues. The role will typically involve document review, research (including regulations, and accounting and audit standards), data analysis, financial analysis, valuation work, client communications and interactions, report and policy/procedure writing, preparation for expert witness testimony at deposition and trial, and other tasks as appropriate for a given project. Salary Scale: Managers are paid an annual salary of between $136,000 and $154,000, subject to all required deductions and withholdings, and not including the value of benefits under any Resolution Economics-maintained benefit plan. The Manager position is classified as exempt from overtime pay requirements under applicable federal and state law. Responsibilities of this position may include: Assisting with planning, executing, directing, and completing projects. Assisting with client engagements, including performing data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, strategic analysis, due diligence, valuation analysis, damage calculations and analysis, forensic accounting procedures, litigation support, risk assessments and remediation, internal control testing, and/or industry research. Assisting in preparing questions for discovery and deposition of potential witnesses, assisting in reviewing and refuting the testimony and analysis of other expert witnesses, and preparing court exhibits, as necessary. Leading a variety of forensic accounting assignments to investigate fraud and/or other accounting or business irregularities. Leading the development, evaluation, and testing of compliance programs. Performing research on applicable regulatory requirements, including accounting and auditing standards (e.g., US GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB). Communicating with counsel and/or clients to obtain documents and/or information, manage case progress and schedules, schedule meetings and conference calls, and conduct interviews with relevant client personnel. Developing and maintaining appropriate relationships with counsel and clients during and after engagements. Reviewing and analyzing audit work papers to determine compliance with professional standards. Assisting with litigation discovery and document requests. Assisting with business development efforts, including preparing presentations and proposals. Mentoring, coaching, and training staff. Job Qualifications: Skills and Abilities Detail-oriented and analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling and accounting. Excellent written (including technical writing) and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and translate complex issues in a clear manner. Ability to solve problems, think creatively and critically, and display intellectual curiosity. Strong work ethic and responsiveness. Executive presence and professionalism. Understanding of businesses concepts, strategy, and compliance framework. Strong technical skills. Understanding of financial statements, financial concepts, financial theory, and accounting issues and pronouncements (e.g., GAAP and GAAS). Understanding of the following:
Damage theories. Damage calculations. Presenting expert opinions. Valuation techniques. Investigative techniques. Regulatory compliance. Merger and acquisition transactions.
Excellent research, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple cases/projects. Ability to perform under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with data analytics and visualization software (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau). Ability to learn new software programs as necessary. Ability and desire to succeed in a team environment. Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasked environment. Self-motivated to perform at high level. Proven ability to manage staff on multiple projects of varying sizes. Demonstrate passion for developing and retaining talent. Some travel may be required. Work Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. 4 to 6 years of prior relevant experience. CPA, CFE, CFF, CFA, ABV, or similar credential is a plus.
