TheVice President of Developmentleads ACHA’s overall revenue generation efforts to support organizational growth and expansion. Reporting to the President & CEO and overseeing a department of four (with plans to expand), this leader will drive fundraising through individual giving, corporate/foundation partnerships, peer-to-peer fundraising, and leadership events to meet ambitious revenue goals. This is an office-based position with a hybrid schedule, requiring 2-3 days/weekly in our Columbia, MD office. Key Responsibilities:

Individual Giving • Develop and execute comprehensive donor development strategies, from pipeline generation to moves management • Oversee annual appeal campaigns with the goal of raising $1 million annually through individual giving by 2028 • Personally manage major giving prospects ($5,000+), collaborating with the President & CEO and Board members • Grow the ACHA Legacy Circle planned giving program • Guide regional development staff to increase local engagement and fundraising Corporate, Foundation and Industry Partnerships • Manage existing institutional, industry, and corporate funding relationships • Identify and cultivate strategic partners to generate new revenue streams • Secure funding for key programs, including conferences, webinars, and peer support • Lead grant writing and ensure fulfillment of partner benefits • Grow corporate, foundation, and industry funding to $500,000 by 2028 Peer-to-Peer Fundraising & Leadership Events • Evaluate and enhance peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns to achieve $1.5 million annually by 2028 • Assess potential for leadership events (galas, tournaments) appealing to high-end donors • Lead sponsorship sales with focus on regional and national partnerships • Collaborate on multi-channel marketing strategies to drive participation and fundraising • Develop productive relationships with key volunteers and advisory members Leadership & Administration • Supervise the Donor and Data Senior Coordinator to manage Raiser’s Edge and P2P fundraising platforms • Partner with the President & CEO to engage business leaders and philanthropists • Develop and monitor department budgets • Provide revenue performance updates to the Board of Directors Qualifications • 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising leadership experience across multiple channels including 5+ years in a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for annual giving, major gifts, corporate partnership, and event fundraising campaigns collectively generating $2 million annually • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, or Nonprofit Management or equivalent experience • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Classy and/or other P2P platforms strongly preferred • Ability to work productively and efficiently with a hybrid schedule, consistent with ACHA’s flexible work arrangement, with experience leading and motivating geographically distributed and in-office team members and direct reports • Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings and later evenings, to effectively engage with Board Members, stakeholders and corporate/foundation partnerships • Strong nonprofit financial planning skills, including development of multi-year fundraising strategies, revenue forecasting, and detailed campaign budgeting with ROI analysis • Demonstrated success recruiting, training, and managing high-level volunteer committees, including board development committees and fundraising event leadership • Experience building volunteer fundraising infrastructures that effectively leverage donor networks • Demonstrated experience processing and stewarding complex gifts, including: managing donor advised fund relationships with community foundations and financial institutions; working with donors on stock transfers and appreciated securities; and knowledge of endowment principles, including creating gift agreements that balance donor intent with organizational flexibility Position Details • Full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid position based in the ACHA office in MD • In-office presence required 2-3 days per week • 25% travel required, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the US • Total compensation is inclusive of competitive salary plus comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, life and disability plans; retirement match; 11.5 paid company holidays, 4 personal days, and 29 days of paid time off (PTO) annually To Apply Email cover letter, resume, and salary requirements as PDF or Word documents to hr@achaheart.org with “Vice President of Development” in the subject line.
