Green Powered Technology, LLC (GPTech) is an energy and engineering consulting firm based in Arlington, Virginia. We are seeking a Business Development Director to lead new business opportunities and strategic marketing initiatives aimed at attracting potential clients and retaining existing ones. This position is based in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Engage and maintain strong industry relationships within the client base and the broader marketplace to foster strategic partnerships.

Lead and manage all business development staff and activities, including opportunity identification, proposal and bid writing, partner relationship management, market research, and go/no-go decision-making.

Build and sustain a qualified pipeline of opportunities exceeding $25M that align with GPTech’s strategic growth and encompass existing and adjacent markets.

Support the company's strategic plans to meet or exceed pipeline targets, ensuring accuracy and achievement of the Bookings Forecast and Plan.

Identify and evaluate opportunities, collaborate with technical teams on capture plans, proposal development, and teaming strategies.

Attend trade shows to identify new opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and expand the client base.

Lead proposal development phases, providing customer insights, solutioning support, review participation, and proposal writing assistance.

Engage with customers to identify and shape opportunities based on company capabilities and client relationships.

Conduct meetings with current and prospective clients, including travel, leadership, and presentations.

Contribute to the development of short- and long-term strategic plans.

Create and maintain partnerships aligned with company capabilities and strategic vision.

Adhere to established business development processes.

Participate in professional associations and conferences.

Motivate and mentor staff to proactively identify and capture opportunities.

Support staff in client communications and problem-solving.

Perform market analysis, monitor competitive activity, and identify client needs.

Support and oversee the business development budget and proposal budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, international relations, marketing, engineering, economics, or related fields. An MBA, MPA, or similar advanced degree is preferred or additional relevant experience in lieu of an advanced degree.

At least 8 years of business development experience in federal government contracting and management, with 3 years in a senior role (director or above).

Experience working with multilateral or bilateral donors such as USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, USTDA, World Bank, or Asian Development Bank.

Prior experience leading business development efforts in sustainable energy, infrastructure, or development sectors.

Knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Proven experience in developing qualification documents, RFIs, proposals, and client presentations.

Ability to manage multiple opportunities throughout the full business development lifecycle.

Experience leading formal client and partner presentations.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Capacity to meet deadlines and work under pressure on multiple projects.

Proven ability to track opportunities, lead capture strategies, and manage pipelines.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge of CRM tools and Shipley methodology is preferred.

Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
