JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Director (PD) for the Dermatology Residency Program at The University of Texas at Tyler

School of Medicine is a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of our dermatology program ensuring academic excellence, fostering research advancements, and promoting clinical innovation.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks

Perform core administrative duties of a Program Director, including assuring all ACGME accreditation standards are met. Assume and perform expected duties as a Program Director as specified by the GME office. Works closely alongside the core faculty to provide a stable, thriving training environment for our fellows and residents. Prepares and delivers weekly fellowship didactics and periodically for other residency programs. Participates in regular scholarly activities. Develop and implement strategic plans for the dermatology program aligned with the overall goals of the medical school. Provide visionary leadership to faculty, residents, and staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Oversee the curriculum development and enhancement of educational programs in dermatology, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Monitor and evaluate educational outcomes, implementing improvements based on feedback and assessment data. Foster a robust research environment, promoting scholarly activities and securing research funding. Facilitate collaboration between clinical departments, promoting interdisciplinary research initiatives. Provide guidance and mentorship to dermatology residents, supporting their professional growth and career development. Cultivate relationships with community healthcare providers and institutions to enhance clinical training opportunities. Promote public awareness of dermatologic health issues through educational outreach and community service. Manage the operational and administrative aspects of the dermatology program, including budgetary planning and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to effectively interact with UT Health Science Center at Tyler faculty, staff, and students. Ability to complete a project timely and efficiently. A commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Good organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Current board certification in the specialty by the American Board of Dermatology, or by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. One (1) year of documented experience serving as core faculty member for an ACGME accredited dermatology program, or specialty qualification that are acceptable to the Review Committee. Unrestricted Texas MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license. ACGME Residency graduate.

Required Licenses/ Certification

Licensure from the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. DEA license.
