The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective flow of goods within a warehouse or distribution center. This includes managing inventory, receiving and shipping products, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. They also play a key role in optimizing processes, using logistics IT systems, and managing the first shift staff.
Branch: All Tile - Carpet Cushion & Supplies in Wood Dale, IL
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
Pay: $70,000-$100,00 depending on experiences
Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, monitoring product expiration dates, and ensuring that the right products are available when needed. Receiving and Shipping: Overseeing the process of receiving incoming goods, verifying their accuracy, and ensuring that outgoing shipments are properly prepared and dispatched.
Follow shipping and receiving standard operating procedures (SOP) for both paperwork and electronic systems processes. Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications to warehouses, buildings, and grounds. Organize warehouse space and inventory to meet safety, efficiency, and inventory control standards for storage and transport.
Space Optimization: Developing and implementing strategies to optimize warehouse space and maximize efficiency. Logistics IT Systems: Utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software to manage inventory, track shipments, and optimize processes. Staff Management: Hiring, training, and supervising warehouse employees, including scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
Lead and develop all warehouse staff to create a positive and engaged team environment. Motivate the warehouse staff to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations as reviewed during routine huddles.
Safety and Security: Ensuring that the warehouse environment is safe and secure, implementing and monitoring safety procedures, and addressing any safety concerns.
Establish and reinforce operational, delivery, and warehouse safety, maintenance, compliance, and cleanliness standards.
Process Improvement: Identifying areas for improvement in warehouse operations and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Budget Management: Developing and managing the warehouse budget, including analyzing variances and making necessary adjustments. Collaboration: Working with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and finance, to ensure that warehouse operations are aligned with business objectives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Four-year degree or equivalent experience·5 years’ experience handling inventory/operational tasks·5 years' management experience in a Distribution Center / Fulfillment Center environment Demonstrated leadership ability, with the ability to engage and motivate others Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Good reasoning, conflict-management, and analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with activity-based performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean thinking with a track record of delivering ‘best in class’ operations and performance Great communication skills and the ability and desire to manage a team A working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations A willingness to learn and being able to go above and beyond is a must
Other Qualifications
In-depth understanding of the industry and best practices for warehouse operation. Experience in the flooring industry is a plus. Excellent attention to detail with consistent, accurate, and quality work output. Team player, who respectfully and courteously interacts with other team members to encourage positive results. Ability to walk or stand for a long period. Must be able to regularly lift to 75Ibs. Able to wear work boots and meet the standard of the company’s workplace safety
Physical Requirements
Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly to communicate with employees and/or customers/vendors. Must be able to bend, twist, stretch, push, pull carry and lift to 60 lbs. Should be comfortable standing and walking for up to 12 hours Able to operate powered industrial equipment including walkies, reach truck, stand ups – proper training and safety standards will be provided Occasionally exposed to cold, hot and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Constant awareness of moving vehicles like forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. Seniority level
