The Executive Director on Special Assignment is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of Summit schools' mission and vision, with a focus on accelerating positive student outcomes through academic programs. They oversee all aspects of school operations, including instructional leadership, on-site management, student enrollment, and fostering an anti-bias, anti-racist school culture. Building relationships with stakeholders to meet budgetary, academic, talent, and operational goals is also a key part of the role. The ideal candidate is an experienced school leader and educator with a proven track record in leading successful schools, coaching faculty and staff, and achieving student success. Familiarity with Summit Learning or personalized learning is highly preferred. Who We Are:

Strategic Vision: Develop and communicate a clear school-based vision aligned with Summit’s mission, setting goals and measures of success. Lead stakeholders to implement and refine this vision throughout the year. Engage regularly with students, parents, and faculty to inspire and communicate around the mission and vision. Support academic programs that improve outcomes, including providing instructional leadership, facilitating leadership meetings, and offering professional development. Implement data collection and analysis practices to continually improve student achievement, fostering a culture of data-informed instruction. Maintain accurate student records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Design and oversee testing plans for external and internal assessments, ensuring adherence to protocols and accommodations. Ensure all courses are approved through the UC system and stay updated on approval processes. Oversee the execution of UC course approval plans. Recruitment and Retention: Ensure full enrollment through strategic recruitment efforts. Collaborate with talent and leadership teams to assess and select faculty and staff using culturally responsive tools. Coach and support faculty and staff for professional growth, including goal setting, observations, and feedback. Support faculty development and onboarding to align with school mission and vision. School Culture: Lead efforts to build a positive school culture that supports the mission, provides engaging extracurricular activities, and promotes restorative practices and discipline strategies. Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including governing bodies, community partners, and families. Ensure compliance with charter requirements and participate in SPS Board meetings. School Operations: Ensure accreditation through WASC, manage school budgets in collaboration with the CFO, and participate in financial audits. Lead fundraising initiatives and oversee school facilities and compliance requirements.
