Goldman Sachs Ayco (Ayco)
partners with Fortune 1000 companies to design and implement tailored financial planning programs for their workforce-leveraging the 50-year heritage of Ayco and the comprehensive resources of Goldman Sachs to meet the evolving needs of their employees. Ayco believes companies best serve their stakeholders and the greater economy when their employees' financial lives are clear, understood and in their control. Ayco advisors and technical specialists help clients achieve their personal financial goals through education and guided implementation across seven key financial disciplines, including employee benefit planning.
The Goldman Sachs Ayco Trust Advisory Service
("ATAS") team works with Goldman Sachs Ayco advisors who service high net worth to ultra-high net worth clients across the United States. ATAS is an internal team collaborating with third-party corporate trustees to administer testamentary and inter-vivos trusts for which Goldman Sachs Ayco has been hired as the trust's investment advisor. Members of the ATAS team regularly interact with financial advisors, trust grantors, trust beneficiaries, trust officers/corporate trustees, trust attorneys, CPAs, and investment management teams.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
Interpret, summarize, and understand complex wills and trusts written in all 50 states
Be able to articulate complex estate planning and trust administration concepts in an understandable way to colleagues
Support ATAS team operations by providing subject matter expertise to ATAS team members and other firm stakeholders related to:
Vetting new ATAS business opportunities/new trust fundings
Assisting with technical questions related to ongoing trust administration for existing ATAS relationships
Being a steward of the trust administration process (in partnership with the corporate trustee) from funding to final distribution
Interact directly with third-party corporate trustees, financial advisors, trust grantors, trust beneficiaries, and client attorneys as needed to further support ATAS operations
Lead calls with financial advisors, internal compliance, and internal and external legal counsel
Participate in internal and external marketing efforts
Troubleshoot operational issues with the ATAS team
WHERE WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Our Private Wealth Management business spans the globe, with the following locations in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Miami (Florida and Latin America coverage), Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and West Palm Beach
This position is for our Cohoes, New York office.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of experience in trust planning and trust administration (e.g., Trust Attorney or Trust Officer experience)
Law Degree preferred but not required
Understanding of core concepts of trust planning and administration required
Familiarity with directed trust and delegated trust models preferred
Experience working with corporate trustees a plus
Familiarity with fiduciary income tax and estate tax concepts a plus (Note: This position does NOT require tax preparation)
Basic understanding of the fiduciary investment process helpful
Strong team orientation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
Self-motivated and able to work in an autonomous, yet collaborative environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Commitment to excellence and a high level of integrity
Strong problem-solving skills
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Albany, NY, United States-based position is $80,000 - $250,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
