Reconditioning Manager
to join their team in
San Diego, CA!
What will you do?
Oversee the entire pre-delivery and reconditioning process from vehicle intake through front-line readiness, including mechanical inspection, repairs, detailing, cosmetic restoration, photographs, and final quality control.
Meet dealership turn time expectations.
Hire, train, mentor, and manage a diverse team of technicians, detailers, and parts/service personnel. Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Analyze PDI and reconditioning timelines, identify process bottlenecks, and implement improvements to reduce average days in recon.
Process map to streamline operations and increase vehicle throughput without compromising quality.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors including monitoring turnaround times and ensuring quality of outsourced work aligns with intercompany standards.
Establish and enforce quality control procedures for each stage of the PDI and reconditioning process. Ensure vehicles meet OEM and dealership standards before sale.
Oversee, track, and maintain PDI and reconditioning supplies and parts inventory to avoid delays.
Track and control reconditioning costs on a per-unit and monthly basis, monitoring labor hours, parts usage, and vendor expenses.
Review financial reports to identify savings opportunities and strategies to lower cost-per-vehicle without compromising quality.
Ensure cross-departmental collaboration with sales, service, and acquisition teams to align vehicle readiness with inventory needs and marketing plans.
Maintain accurate records of PDI and reconditioning work in dealership management systems and tracking software, including measuring team productivity.
Use data to drive decisions and support continuous improvement.
Ensure work complies with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Excellent interpersonal, counseling, negotiation, and customer service skills
Ability to anticipate and interpret customer needs to identify solutions
Strong presentation skills
Effective coaching, performance feedback, and development of team members
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
Additional education, certifications, or distinctions are a plus
3-5+ years’ experience, including 2+ in leadership roles
Proficient in MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint)
Total Target Compensation:
Starting at $120,000/annually (DOE)
