POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the cleanliness, repair, and maintenance of the facility and grounds. Hires, trains, and supervises department staff. GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, daytime with the ability to work occasional weekends if necessary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain and repair building systems and structures, including HVAC, plumbing, roof, and electrical. Monitor and implement the preventative maintenance schedule. Monitor all building equipment and property to ensure regular service and operation at peak efficiency. Responsible for the cleanliness of the facility and grounds. Perform housekeeping and custodial tasks. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies according to the budget. Monitor, implement, and enforce department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Ensure PPE compliance. Complete repair work and projects in a timely manner. Monitor the work of contractors. Manage and monitor the annual operating budget for the department. Maintain building exterior, adjacent grounds, and parking area, including snow removal. Operate and maintain the swimming pool to include cleaning, chemical quality, and temperature. Ensure the pool operates at peak efficiency. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff. Review and evaluate staff performance. Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to facility and grounds, including OSHA Standards Provide for a safe environment. Identify problems and resolve areas of concern in a timely manner. Ensure equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA. Serve as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA. Carry out other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Three or more years of practical experience in the maintenance/custodial field. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas. Working knowledge of housekeeping and grounds keeping. Able to lead a team and supervise staff. CPR/AED certification preferred. Certified Pool Operator certification is preferred and required within 6 months of employment. Respirator/Fit Test certification within 90 days of employment. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Valid NYS driver’s license. Excellent human relations skills. Experience working with diverse populations.
