Description
We are currently seeking a Director of Operations to lead and enhance business operations across our utility-focused service lines. This role requires a strong understanding of the electrical utility industry, including transmission, distribution, and substation operations. The Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, driving process improvements, and aligning team performance with company goals within the context of electrical infrastructure projects.
This position will oversee execution of utility operations, resource planning, cross-functional coordination, and performance metrics. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of field operations and regulatory requirements within the utility sector. They will also lead commercial initiatives such as upselling, customer relationship management, and identifying opportunities for incremental business.
We are looking for someone with strong drive, sound judgment, and the ability to influence operational and commercial domains. The ideal candidate is Dallas-based (preferred but not required) and must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement operational strategies and best practices aligned with company objectives. Lead and manage cross-functional operational teams to ensure project and business success. Oversee field execution, project delivery, and resource management within electrical utility projects, including transmission and substation operations. Analyze performance data and KPIs to identify areas for continuous improvement. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence. Manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations across teams. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Partner with HR, Finance, and other departments to align processes and drive efficiency. Guide leadership development and team performance across departments. Maintain strong communication between field teams and executive leadership. Support business development and customer satisfaction through efficient operational execution. Identify and drive upselling and growth opportunities with existing clients.

Proven leadership and operational management experience. Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. The ability to drive efficiency and build high-performing teams. An analytical mindset and a results-driven approach.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred). 10-15 years of progressive experience in operations or project management. Experience in electrical utilities, including transmission, distribution, or substation project oversight, is strongly preferred. Strong leadership skills and experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational/project management tools.
