Jupiter seeks to grow its transmission team with the recruitment of a highly motivated Transmission Analyst. This is a hybrid role based out of our Austin, TX or Chicago, IL offices and will need to comply with the Company's return-to-office requirements, which are currently 3+ days a week in the office. Principal Responsibilities Analyze transmission system and power market dynamics to assist in development and operations activities

Perform and/or manage external consultants to perform production cost modeling, load flow analysis, and assist with Jupiter’s optimization models to forecast power market dynamics

Perform economic assessment of transmission outages and congestion patterns to inform future pricing and grid conditions used in Jupiter’s market models.

Research market data using available databases as well as statistical tools

Contribute to the evolution of Jupiter’s platform and capabilities as it relates to grid expertise, including collaborating with software, analytics and trading teams

Lead communications and build relationships with utilities/ISO’s, and serve as Jupiter’s expert on transmission planning activities at each ISO

Manage and/or complete interconnection applications and supporting documentation in active ISOs

Maintain internal database of interconnection tariffs, costs, timelines, queues and process for active markets

Track interconnection progress to ensure projects are complete in a timely and cost-effective manner

Support internal investment approval process and prepare board materials for approval

Participate in ISO stakeholder calls and track changes to transmission and interconnection processes

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field 3+ years of experience in transmission planning for utility, IPP, ISO, consultancy, or related organization 1+ years of project management experience with excellent track records Capability of performing load flow and short circuit studies with power system analysis software such as PSSE, PSLF, Powerworld, TARA and ASPEN. High technical and commercial acumen to integrate commercial strategy with grid dynamics Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information Eager to wear multiple hats depending on business need and project priorities High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers. Unafraid to take ownership and initiative, in order to be to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team. (Preferred) Deep understanding of stability analysis, capability of tuning control parameters for dynamic models (Preferred) Master’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on power system (Preferred) Familiarity with energy storage technologies and deployments Compensation & Benefits $80,000 - $100,000 Annually This pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Jupiter Power considers a number of factors when determining starting compensation such as the position requirements and the candidate's qualifications. In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package for this position includes eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity programs.
