Position Overview This position is responsible for supervising operations and related crews within the assigned area for the City, performed under general supervision.

Supervise assigned crews and contractors, including scheduling, assignments, and personnel issues. Monitor work progress, resolve problems, and address complaints. Inspect work during and after completion to ensure compliance with city guidelines. Instruct employees in safe and efficient procedures. Ensure trucks and equipment are operated safely and efficiently. Assist and supervise operations such as refuse collection, water/wastewater treatment, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, utilities, ground maintenance, fleet management, heavy equipment operation, and traffic control. Contribute to establishing or revising departmental rules and regulations. Conduct regular safety training sessions. Implement and enforce city personnel policies and departmental procedures. Oversee purchases, material orders, and budget requests; review bid specifications and pay bills. Manage permits and notices as required. Prepare reports as needed. Maintain communication systems and participate in emergency call-outs, shifts, and extended hours. Perform office tasks such as answering phones, filing, and data entry. Coordinate with other operation leaders to complete tasks or projects. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, with relevant coursework in repair or mechanical equipment. At least five years of related work experience. Valid Florida driver’s license. Within three months of hire, obtain a Class B Commercial Florida Driver’s Permit with airbrake (and tanker, if applicable) endorsement; within six months, obtain a Class B Commercial Florida Driver’s License with the same endorsements. Additional hazardous endorsements may be required based on area. Depending on the area, additional certifications may be required, such as water or wastewater treatment licenses, water distribution, collection, stormwater operation, traffic control, confined space, trenching and excavation, pesticide licenses, lockout/tag-out, or FEMA emergency management training. Physical Demands
Light work with occasional heavy lifting up to 80 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, reaching, and bending. Good dexterity, hand-eye coordination, eyesight, hearing, and speech. Regular vehicle operation and PPE use. Work Environment Work outdoors in various weather conditions, with exposure to construction sites, water/wastewater hazards, chemicals, noise, vibration, electrical risks, heights, pathogens, and moving machinery and traffic.
