Oversee daily operations and long-term planning for facility maintenance, engineering, and plant systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and medical gases. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, NFPA, EPA, and local/state building codes. Develop and manage the Plant Operations budget, including capital planning and operational expenditures. Lead the facilities team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all building systems and equipment. Manage vendor contracts and external service providers for facility-related services. Promote environmental sustainability, energy management, and facility efficiency. Serve as the hospital’s Safety Officer and lead the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee. Support hospital emergency preparedness and response plans, including utilities management and infrastructure readiness. Collaborate with Infection Prevention, Nursing, and Environmental Services on patient safety initiatives related to facilities. Qualifications Education and Work Experience Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, chillers, construction, engineering, hazardous materials, and safety management is required. Management experience is necessary. At least 3 years of hospital experience in Plant Operations is preferred. Knowledge of hospital codes and standards. Experience with TJC, ACHC, and Medicare requirements. Management or supervision experience in all Facilities-related departments (EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc.). Knowledge of facility buildings, equipment, and utilities. Valid state driver’s license. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Engineering is preferred.
