About the Opportunity: My client, a well-established and respected heavy civil and water infrastructure contractor operating throughout the Intermountain West, is seeking a
General Superintendent
to join their leadership team in
Salt Lake City . They specialize in complex public and private infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, large diameter pipelines, and other civil works. This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple projects, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity across all job sites, and mentoring field leaders. The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy civil and water infrastructure, excels in team building, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Key Responsibilities: Oversee field operations for multiple concurrent projects across the Salt Lake City region Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards, contract documents, and regulatory requirements Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with all safety policies and procedures Monitor productivity and cost control measures; support in developing schedules and manpower forecasts Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to superintendents, foremen, and field crews Interface with clients, inspectors, and engineers to resolve field issues and maintain strong relationships Assist in workforce planning, equipment allocation, and logistics management Qualifications: 10+ years of field experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role Proven experience in water/wastewater treatment plant construction, large diameter pipelines, or related infrastructure Deep knowledge of construction means, methods, and best practices for heavy civil work Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, safety, and quality management Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, or similar) is a plus OSHA 30 certification preferred Ability to travel locally to project sites within the Salt Lake City region Seniority level
