Malcolm X College is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance, and Retention for the Athletics Department. The mission of Malcolm X College is to provide accessible liberal arts and health-focused education that fosters personal and professional achievement. We focus on the core values of accountability, community, diversity, empowerment, learning, and respect. Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate & Intramural Athletics, the Assistant Director will assist in developing and administering college athletics programs, support student-athletes academically to aid their transition, retention, and completion, and foster an environment for effective coaching and quality services. The role also involves assisting the Director with compliance responsibilities, such as certifying NJCAA eligibility, preparing compliance reports, and ensuring adherence to NJCAA rules and regulations and CCC’s Athletic Governance Policy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Develop and implement strategies to increase student-athlete enrollment, retention, and completion. Represent the college at recruitment events and promote athletic programs. Implement academic support programs for student-athletes at risk of losing eligibility. Ensure student-athletes' eligibility for intercollegiate athletics. Assist in preparing documents for NJCAA eligibility certification. Provide compliance updates and conduct information sessions on NJCAA rules for staff and students. Maintain records of physical examinations and other required documentation. Support coaches with data entry and reporting using various systems. Prepare monthly and annual progress reports. Supervise or cover night and weekend games as needed. Participate in campus committees related to academic support and student success. Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department. Serve as an interim coach if necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field. At least three years of coaching experience at high school or college level. Dedication to student-athletes and success. Knowledge of CCC’s policies and NJCAA rules. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Salary Range: $49,561 - $60,400 Offered salary depends on collective bargaining agreement, education, experience, and skills.
