Chat live with a recruiter by texting 803-316-7849. 2025-26 Assistant Executive Director - Network Team (External Applicants Only) Liberty STEAM Charter, a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school, is located in Sumter, South Carolina, and served 192 scholars in the 2021-22 school year, its inaugural year, across kindergarten and first grade. Authorized by the SC Public Charter School District in April 2020, LSC is the first of its kind in the community and will serve scholars in grades K-12 across four academies at build-out, with grade levels phased in over time to ensure quality educational programming. In the 2022-23 school year, LSC expanded its Primary Academy by adding second grade, serving 300 scholars across K-1, and opened its Elementary Academy in August 2023 for grades 2-3. It is scheduled to open its next site in the 2025-26 school year with 5th grade. Next year, LSC will serve 900 scholars across three campuses. The school's vision and mission focus on emphasizing STEAM career fields through project-based and personalized learning, equipping students with the skills needed for success in college or careers. Description of Sumter Sumter, known as the Gamecock City, has nearly 108,000 residents. It offers a diversified industrial base, beautiful gardens, and recreational activities like hunting, fishing, water sports, and golf. Located centrally in SC, it is close to Myrtle Beach, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Columbia, and Charleston. It is also home to Shaw Air Force Base and the Third Army, making it a vibrant community hub for industry, military, and culture. The Challenge Sumter faces challenges common to rural communities: its public schools are not fully preparing students for a skills-based economy. Innovation is necessary to improve competitiveness and economic growth, with a focus on industry-recognized credentials and skills for high-demand jobs. Solution The establishment of LSC, a public charter school focused on STEAM careers through project-based learning supported by industry, is a strategic response. Mission: To provide all scholars with access to a world-class, rigorous, and scholar-centered K-12 education, fostering graduates prepared for college and careers. Vision: To offer interdisciplinary, personalized, and project-based learning through a STEAM program, cultivating future leaders and contributors to economic well-being. Multiple pathways will include industrial & engineering technology, health sciences, computer technology, and early college. The school aims to build an inclusive, supportive community and serve as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization and economic diversity. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director (AED) will oversee organizational health, including mission implementation, goal achievement, fundraising, accreditation, federal programs, and staff management. This role is ideal for an experienced, licensed education administrator committed to serving low SES and minority scholars, with a focus on scholar college & career readiness. The AED will be developed to eventually step into the Executive Director role. Role Mission: To lead two academy directors across instructional, culture, and operations teams, transforming educational outcomes for children from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they develop character, academic challenge, and college readiness. Who We Are Looking For Experienced K-12 educational leaders who believe in college access for all students. At least two years in instructional leadership or management roles. At least three years of K-12 teaching experience. At least five years of K-12 leadership experience (principal/assistant principal). Proven results in budgeting, fundraising, federal programs, and managing others. Key Outcomes Proficiency and growth targets in Math, Reading, SEL, and other areas. Financial and enrollment goals met, staff retention, and funds raised targets achieved. Responsibilities include managing staff, improving instructional quality, data analysis, community engagement, and ensuring high expectations and results. Qualifications Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred. Minimum 3+ years of successful teaching, five years of instructional leadership, valid SC educator and principal licenses. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $90,000 to $120,000, with performance bonuses, relocation stipends, and benefits.
