We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to oversee and support the daily operations of our resort’s engineering and maintenance team. This position ensures the efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as preventative maintenance and repair efforts across the property. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel/resort engineering, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Large Resort – 671 Rooms (21 Suites) & 295,000 Sq. Ft. Meeting Space Pay Range:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 Responsibilities
Operational & Maintenance Management: Assist the
Director of Engineering
in overseeing all engineering operations, including building maintenance, safety systems, energy management, and sustainability initiatives. Ensure
preventative maintenance programs
are effectively executed for guest rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas. Monitor and maintain all
mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems
to ensure optimal performance. Oversee
fire life safety systems , ensuring compliance with all fire codes and regulations. Lead
emergency response efforts , including power outages, plumbing failures, and HVAC breakdowns. Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise, train, and mentor a team of engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring a high level of service and technical expertise. Develop and implement
training programs
to enhance team skills and knowledge of safety procedures, equipment maintenance, and energy conservation. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of engineering team members. Project Management & Compliance:
Assist in the planning and execution of
capital improvement projects , including renovations and upgrades. Ensure compliance with
OSHA, EPA, local building codes, and corporate safety standards . Maintain accurate records for
inspections, maintenance logs, and regulatory documentation . Collaborate with
contractors and vendors
for repairs, upgrades, and special projects. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:
Support energy-saving initiatives and
sustainability programs
to reduce the property’s environmental footprint. Monitor and analyze energy usage to optimize
cost savings
and operational efficiency. Guest Service & Operational Support:
Work closely with the
Housekeeping, Front Office, and Food & Beverage departments
to ensure guest satisfaction and a seamless experience. Respond promptly to guest service requests related to
room maintenance and public area issues . Qualifications
5+ years of engineering experience in a large hotel/resort or commercial property. 2+ years in a leadership role within an engineering/maintenance department. Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Experience managing capital projects, renovations, and preventive maintenance programs. Knowledge of fire codes, safety regulations, and sustainability practices. Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) preferred. EPA certification, OSHA training, and CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification are a plus. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., push, pull, and carry equipment and materials. Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Comfortable working in hot, cold, and outdoor conditions as needed. Ability to respond to emergency situations at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
