Plastik AI is harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to revolutionize the plastic and plastic compounding industries, bridging the gap between engineers using plastics and manufacturers creating them. At the core of our platform is Herman, an advanced AI agent designed to match product requirements with ideal plastic compounds. Herman leverages a combination of public and proprietary data to enable rapid and precise material recommendation, which can be easily ordered within a marketplace. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced Director of Technical Business Development to help us build our plastic AI-enabled tools and marketplace. The role will require forming and facilitating new partnerships, customers and sales pipelines across target plastic market segments. Your work will also help inform and test the AI tools and marketplace to ensure that it best serves customers across the all business processes – selection, sourcing, and logistics. Your work will ensure our platform provides the best plastics procurement workflow within the industry. As part of our cross-disciplinary team, you will work alongside MIT-trained engineers, scientists, and business professionals to build a groundbreaking AI platform for the plastics industry. Job Responsibilities Partnership Development – Identify and develop partnerships with suppliers, and distributors to solve supply chain challenges. Establish collaborations within the plastics data and software ecosystem to help us improve the utility of our software platform and marketplace. Business Development – Perform high-level sales activities to educate the plastic industry about our products, marketplace, and AI technology platform. Be able to perform technical sales presentations to engineers and management, price and contract negotiations, creating new sales strategies at targeted accounts, account management, and communicating customer’s technical requirements internally. Platform Development—Work with the software design and engineering team to ensure that our AI Agents provide the best service possible to customers. Provide technical feedback on the AI Agent's ability to solve design, material selection, processing, manufacturing, and supply chain challenges, driving sustainable growth with an eye to the future. Account management - Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within each account. Adapts easily across sales, marketing, operations, and technology in order to be credible and relevant across the customers’ functional areas. Skills and Abilities Excellent sales and customer service skills with a proven ability to explain technical materials to a non-technical audience. Self-motivated and driven to succeed. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Have strong negotiation and technical presentation skills. Able to work independently and within a team environment. Able to analyze and troubleshoot as problems or changes arise. Able to utilize and lead internal support as needed. Able to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to product sales. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Attendance is an essential function of the job. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Plastic, Mechanical, Chemical, or other engineering field with a strong background in Sales, Marketing, or Business. 10+ years’ experience in Engineering Plastics Sales required. Must be entrepreneurial and have a proven track record of sales or application development in a technical field. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
