Chief Databricks Solutions Architect
Client is seeking a Chief Databricks Solutions Architect, someone who can listen to the customer's needs and requirements and then translate those into visionary solutions. This might mean incremental improvements or, in some cases, significant architectural shifts. This person must also be tuned in to emerging technologies and proactively seeking opportunities to drive efficiency. Whether through reduced effort, lower costs, or faster delivery. Equally important is communication. The Chief Databricks Solutions Architect must be able to clearly articulate to the customer the advantages of proposed solutions, explain to Program Leadership how we would implement them (including key risks and assumptions), and guide individual team leads on why certain technical decisions should or should not be made. Ultimately, this role is about setting a strategic vision and then collaborating with stakeholders across all levels to make that vision real. This role is primarily to support the migration of EMR to Databricks migration, SAS to Databricks migration, and a Databricks Medallion Re-architecture. The migration absolutely needs to be completed by 01/31/2026. Seeking a highly skilled Databricks Solution(s) Architect expert to support The data systems as well as the next level modernization. The Data Architect will play a critical role in the modernization of the platform by ensuring scalable, high-performing, and reusable data designs aligned with CMS' mission. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, documentation, and implementation of logical and physical data models, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories in support of the pipeline and analytics functions. Design and maintain integration, cleansing, and curated layers to ensure accurate and performant analytical outputs. Lead architecture reviews and provide strategic input on performance optimization, data standardization, and quality assurance frameworks. Guide the evolution and governance of the MIDAS data model to support new regulatory requirements, scalability needs, and enhanced interoperability. Participate in the design and deployment of ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring robust error handling, data lineage tracking, and versioning. Provide leadership for audit support activities and documentation for FISMA, CMS ARS 5.0, and other compliance requirements. Define best practices and contribute to the development of reusable data architecture patterns and engineering standards. Qualifications
