This position will be at Alta Forest Products HQ in Chehalis, WA. Alta Forest Products is the world's largest producer of wood fence boards, specializing in Western Red Cedar and other premium species found in the Pacific and Inland Northwest forests. In addition to producing fence boards and pallet stock lumber, Alta's zero-wood-waste sawmills produce by-products such as wood chips, sawdust, mulch, and bio-fuel. Headquartered in centrally-located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates fence board sawmills and reload facilities in four rural communities in the region: Morton, WA; Shelton, WA; Amanda Park, WA; Naples, ID; Bonners Ferry, ID; and Winlock, WA.
The Role:
Our company is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for supporting the Accounting team by maintaining current and accurate records pertaining to log accounting, inventories, transfers, payments, invoice reconciliation, processing, and general AP/AR support duties. In conjunction with other accounting team members, the person will ensure that payments are timely and accurately recorded in the accounting system and will handle the resolution of account discrepancies and procedural inquiries when necessary.
What You'll Do
Reconcile issues relative to purchase orders, invoices, receivers, and payments Code, verify, and electronically upload account data into accounting software Process payments for logs, trucking, purchase orders, and invoices as assigned Assist with month-end closing duties Perform and complete check printing, mailing, and processing of electronic payments Generate statistical summary reports as required Support other areas in the Accounting Department as needed and requested Other duties as assigned Requirements
What You Offer
A secondary degree in accounting or a related field is preferred Previous experience of at least one year that is directly related to the duties outlined Knowledge of standard accounts payable and receivable policies, procedures, and regulations Basic understanding of the general ledger chart of accounts Strong MS Office skills, with at least Intermediate Excel skills Self-disciplined with attention to detail Must have strong organizational and analytical skills Must be able to work effectively in a team Must be highly motivated with exceptional problem-solving skills Must have strong oral and written communication skills Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position is considered non-exempt per FLSA guidelines and is eligible for overtime. A typical schedule requires the ability to work 40 hours a week. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends may be necessary to accommodate critical goals and objectives. Flexible hours or schedules may be accommodated.
