This includes, but is not limited to immediately securing an area when a hazardous situation occurs, promptly informing the store manager of the situation, and/or promptly taking action to remove the hazardous condition. Every employee must also maintain a friendly attitude, wear the proper uniform or dress code, keep the store stocked and organized, and provide excellent customer service on a regular basis. This position serves as a stock clerk primarily for the Frozen Food and Dairy Department stocking the coolers and displays with frozen food and dairy merchandise in the store. Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards Promptly address maintenance and safety issues with store or department manager Report all accidents promptly to store or department manager Punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies; ensure work responsibilities are covered during foreseeable absences Performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Train newly hired employees on stock procedures and process May perform general cleaning duties such as mopping and sweeping Report any equipment malfunctions to store or department manager May assist store manager on duty in other departments Qualifications
Minimum Requirements - Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; minimum of 18 years of age Competencies, Skills and/or Qualifications: Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with directors, managers, customers (both internal and external) and the general public Good interpersonal skills Takes responsibility for own actions Ability to work hours and days scheduled, including holidays and weekends Basic math skills and numerical recognition Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Stand and walk Use fingers and hands to handle or feel Reach with hands and arms; repetitive motion with arms and shoulders Carry, lift and/or move departmental products and merchandise Twist back and neck Use sense of smell Talk and hear Close vision and peripheral vision The employee is frequently required to: Push and pull carts of departmental products and merchandise Stoop or bend at the waist Crouch or bend at the knees Kneel The employee is occasionally required to: Climb ladder or step stool Balance The individual performs duties in a grocery store environment. He or she maintains frequent contact with supervisors, employees and customers. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. In this position, there is the frequent use of gloves, knives, case cutters, stock cart, pallet jack, refrigerators, freezers, coolers, and cleaning supplies and equipment; on rare occasions a fork lift might be used. Floor surfaces may get slippery therefore caution and safety is mandatory; rubber boots may be worn. Proper attire is required to tolerate freezing temperatures. The use of a powered pallet jack and fork lift requires safety training; incumbent shall not use a powered pallet jack or fork lift without such training.
