Software Developer Position

This position will be filled at either the Software Developer 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. The Weapons Research Services - Weapons Mission Technology (WRS-WMT) group is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Software Developer to support the development and maintenance of mission-critical applications deployed across the Department of Energy (DOE) complex on both classified and unclassified systems. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, creative, and technically proficient, demonstrating a strong ability to work collaboratively with end users, team members, service providers, peers, and DOE partners to understand and implement business requirements. We are specifically seeking a candidate who will research, analyze, design, develop, implement, and manage systems for LANL's Weapons Mission using the OpenText Documentum software suite of tools and technologies, including D2 and Records Manager. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting applications while providing technical leadership and mentorship within the team. Key Responsibilities

Develop, support, and enhance internal software applications and systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. Collaborate with stakeholders including Design Agency and Production Agency engineers, other laboratory computing teams, and DOE laboratories to define and implement software solutions. Research, evaluate, and recommend new or existing software features and emerging technologies to improve system performance and capabilities. Provide technical direction and coordinate activities with team members and other relevant personnel. Works collaboratively within a team environment, values the perspectives of others, and is receptive to feedback and direction from peers and leadership to achieve shared goals. Troubleshoot, document, and train users on mission-critical applications, ensuring optimal performance and usability. Engage with vendors for customer support, technical working groups, and software enhancements. Ensure safety and security compliance, integrating security best practices into all development and deployment activities. Software Developer 2

$85,900 - $139,900 As a Software Developer 2, you will support LANL's Weapons mission software toolsets, it is necessary to develop creative and innovative software solutions with a focus on large records collections to enable scientists and engineers to easily locate, analyze, and take action on the data across a full array of systems. The WMT group is tasked with customizing, configuring, and maintaining large-scale implementations of product lifecycle and content management software packages. This position will require you to apply existing theories, principles and concepts as well as solutions for a wide range of complex problems where data analysis is required. As part of the team, you will collaborate to analyze and identify user requirements, determine system features and functionality, perform system testing, verification, validation, and implement the software solutions necessary to support the mission and advance the capabilities of the programs, in accordance and while adhering to scientific and information technology policies, programs, procedures and practices. $104,100 - $172,200 In addition to what was outlined at Software Developer 2, at this level additional duties will include providing leadership for complex technical projects, advanced concepts, techniques and standards. You will be responsible for mentoring team members and managing the integration of developed solutions into production. Leadership activities can include collaborations with external DOE partners and across LANL divisions, guidance on new software features and emerging technologies, and presenting appropriate technical details to stakeholders. Minimum Job Requirements

Technical Knowledge Proficiency in installation, deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of one or more of the following software tools: OpenText Documentum or similar tools. OpenText Documentum experience, including Records Manager and D2: Records Manager: Proficient in managing the full lifecycle of records management, including implementing new retention policies, performing system maintenance, and executing upgrades. D2: Experienced in applying upgrades and patches, making configuration changes, debugging issues, and integrating new requirements into existing implementations. Experience in understanding RDB design and implementation using Oracle and writing queries. Full SDLC experience (design, development, testing, debugging, deployment, and security). Experience with web application development using HTML, Java, JavaScript, CSS, XML, and batch scripting. Independent judgment to resolve complex technical issues. Experience communicating to a diverse team of stakeholders. Teamwork Expertise in balancing independent work with collaborative efforts in a high-pressure, rapidly shifting team environment. Demonstrated a record of success in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues. Additional Job Requirements for Software Developer 3

Experience developing and/or implementing advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Considered an expert in the field, with a strong ability to mentor junior team members, share knowledge effectively, and foster growth through coaching, collaboration, and technical guidance. Works under consultative direction towards predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated and virtually self-supervisory. Uses wide latitude in the methods, technique, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Education/Experience at Software Developer 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience at Software Developer 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable. Desired Qualifications: Familiar with configuring authentication using OneID or Single Sign On (SSO). Experience with OpenText Documentum suite of products including D2, Records Manager, OTDS. Experience configuring and supporting Apache Tomcat web servers. Experience with managing applications on Windows Servers. Passion for contributing to U.S. national security and developing an in-depth understanding of the science and engineering processes that drive WMT Group's customer requirements. Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners, including staff, administrators, and external DOE organizations. Active DOE Q-Clearance. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
