SOUTH CONGRESS HOTEL is hiring for a Pastry Cook
The living room for the neighborhood, South Congress Hotel, is an 83-room boutique hotel designed to be a community activity hub. A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee + bakeshop, a rooftop pool, an award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces, in addition to a range of community events + programming open to all. All locally owned, all right at the doorstep of Austin's favorite street.
What you'll do:
Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices Prepare and cook dishes promptly and consistently, adhering to the outlet's recipes and procedures Ensure the cleanliness and proper sanitization of work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas Assist in the restocking and replenishing of supplies Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment Portion, arrange, and garnish pastry items Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption Observe and test food items to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, temping, or piercing them with utensils Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage Who you are:
