Objective:
The objective of this position is to guarantee the timely delivery of rations in appropriate quantities and quality to feedlot cattle. Key duties involve maintaining various feedlot machinery, including trucks, pay loaders, and the feed mill itself. You will also assist in unloading commodity trucks and utilizing a batching computer system to accurately feed the cattle. Your daily tasks will include loading and mixing rations for each pen by effectively using the batching system and understanding how to read the truck scale to add specific ingredients in the correct amounts. Proficiency in handling the micro-ingredient machine is required, along with a solid understanding of livestock and their dietary needs. Experience operating a feed truck and ensuring uniform distribution of feed in bunks is critical. Mechanical aptitude is essential, as this role involves maintaining the feed trucks, which encompasses regular oil changes and other routine maintenance. Additionally, the ability to read bunks to assess feed levels is an important skill. Physical Requirements and Skills Needed: Ability to lift 50 lbs. A minimum of a high school diploma Valid driver's license is required Preferred experience as a feed truck driver Reliable individual with a solid work ethic Ability to take directions well and adjust to changing tasks Knowledge of animal nutrition is a plus
