Job Opportunity: Network Technician

This technician will support a large federal agency's Network Infrastructure through survey, design, and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture of the environment. This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards. Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government. Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks. Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption. Knowledge of network topologies and standards. Topology and rack elevations using Visio. Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a site's current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations. Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling. Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards. Build and install equipment racks. Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms. Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks. Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure. Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner. Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements. Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements). Investigate physical faults in the network. Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders.
