Principal Software Safety Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal Software Safety Engineer to join us onsite. As a Principal Software Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Analysis of engineering software, and/or firmware (IAW MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, etc.) Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code Collaborate with Program Management and Government approval authorities from program startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds. Performing Software and/or Firmware analysis. Executing the Software System Safety Program. Mentoring junior engineers. Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval. Briefing software safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process. Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards. Qualifications you must have: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position. Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications we prefer: Experience with DoD System Safety Programs. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development. Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Active Secret clearance. This position is posted as ONSITE and is based at Raytheon's Huntsville, AL locations. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
