Oracle Health Data Intelligence (HDI) is growing and looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a team developing a new product. Leveraging our prior experience, we will deliver a new client-facing web application using the latest technologies and capabilities of Oracle. Our application will help medical providers coordinate care for patients by viewing patient records, ordering labs, making referrals, and communicating directly and securely to provide efficient, effective care. Responsibilities
You will apply intermediate to advanced knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging, and designing software applications according to provided product design specifications. You will help to architect new systems, implement features, and work to build a robust, scalable modern web application. Our work involves problem solving, strong communication skills with other teams, an ability to do independent research to understand other HDI systems and capabilities, and applying company policies and processes. Expertise in web front-end technologies such as Oracle Jet, React, JavaScript, Preact, Ruby on Rails, etc. High level of fluency with a modern programming language such as Java, Scala, Ruby and others. Proficiency in design patterns and SOLID principles. Expertise in writing well-modularized, maintainable software. Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations. Knowledge of operations processes and DevOps technologies such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Maven, etc. Solid understanding of modern web applications from database to user interface. Familiarity with micro-services architecture and RESTful APIs. Experience building and maintaining large scalable enterprise applications, distributed systems, and cloud-based platforms. Familiarity with technologies and design concepts for relational databases including SQL schemas and queries, etc. Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical contexts. Build cloud services on OCI infrastructure. Knowledge of public cloud SaaS, PaaS services and/or related technology experience, cloud engineering infrastructure development. Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, or equivalent. 8+ years of technical experience relevant to this position. Proficient in Java; familiarity with Scala and Ruby on Rails is helpful. Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with teams across our organization. Experience working with technical partners to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable technical requirements and per-component designs. Experience working on distributed systems hosted by a cloud service provider. Experience working with relational databases including designing schemas, writing queries, and optimizing performance. Experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols. Familiar with components of modern infrastructure like service discovery, secret storage, software-defined networking, etc. Experience with production operations, good practices for putting quality code in production and solving issues when they arise. Ability to communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations).
