Active DoD Secret Clearance is Required
This position is set aside for people with differing abilities

The position is located in Arlington, VA at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
The core working hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday
The hourly rate for this position is $24.07
Pre-employment criminal background checks, government clearance and drug testing are required
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of one (1) year specialized experience in Federal, DoD, AND commercial mail, hazardous materials handling, mail screening, and strong customer service skills
Ability to multitask preferred
Individual must be able to handle lifting of loads up to 65 lbs
Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
Federal Government Experience required
DoD experience preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support mail and courier services by receiving/distributing mail within, and both to and from DARPA as described below
Comply with US Postal Service (USPS) and Military Postal System rules and requirements for handling and safeguarding mail and postal materials
Assist with maintaining USPS, Federal Express, and United Parcel Service accounts for DARPA
Collect letters and parcels; sort incoming letters and parcels; obtain customer signatures for registered, certified, and insured mail; operate various types of postal equipment; distribute incoming mail from USPS and package delivery firms
Securely process incoming letter and packages under bio-hazard contamination procedures and subsequently route sorted mail to designated areas, in accordance with established procedures and deadlines
Deliver express, registered, and certified mail to US Post Office using government transportation
For outgoing official mail items, check mail to ensure correct postage and that packages/letters are in proper condition for mailing
Answer questions regarding mail regulations and procedures, apply appropriate postage rates, and identify approximate delivery times
Distribute incoming mail into the correct locations and established routing schemes
Receive, distribute, and courier materials between DARPA and the Pentagon (or other facilities in the National Capital Area, as required), using DARPA provided transportation assets
Assist with the operation of DARPA’s central shipping and receiving point/loading dock
Work with DARPA’s customers, building management, and security contractors to ensure that materials are shipped, received, and safeguarded in a secure manner with appropriate shipment/receipt accountability and appropriate chain of custody documentation being maintained as described below
As required, pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
When ready for shipment off-site, secure on the loading dock the burn-bags associated with the disposal of sensitive unclassified material and on site “shred-bins”
Supervise the secure transfer of the Agency’s burn bags to the Pentagon disposal
Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
