As a prep cook at Kalamazoo Country Club, you will play a critical role in supporting culinary operations across multiple outlets, including Whites Lake Tavern, Banquets, and the Clubhouse. Your primary responsibilities will include: Executing prep lists and batch recipes for Whites Lake Tavern, Banquet events, and Clubhouse service under the direction of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef. Preparing ingredients such as vegetables, sauces, dressings, marinades, and proteins using proper techniques and standards. Assisting with the daily production of employee meals, including execution, and setup. Following recipes, portioning, and labeling standards to maintain consistency and quality. Stocking & Inventory Support Receive and organize stock deliveriescheck for accuracy, rotate stock, and report any discrepancies or quality issues. Ensure proper storage and labeling of products in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas according to FIFO and food safety practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and clearly labeled back-of-house storage environment. Organization & Cleanliness Support kitchen cleanliness by keeping prep areas sanitized and tidy throughout the shift. Clean and maintain tools, cutting boards, storage containers, and equipment after use. Assist with general kitchen duties including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing as needed. Teamwork & Communication Collaborate with line cooks, banquet chefs, and kitchen leadership to ensure smooth execution of daily prep and service. Maintain clear communication regarding product shortages, prep needs, and task status. Take initiative to support other team members and adjust to daily kitchen needs. What You Need for this Position
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and work independently on prep lists. Previous prep or kitchen experience preferred, but not required. Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen workspace. Understanding of basic knife skills, food handling, and storage practices. Able to stand for extended periods (up to 8+ hours) in a fast-paced kitchen. Able to lift, move, and carry up to 40 lbs.
