Database Administrator (DBA)
with a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server to manage and maintain the full lifecycle of databases in production, development, and testing environments. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience and be well-versed in performance tuning, multi-site set-up and implementation and maintenance of company security policies. This role will require close collaboration with developers and a deep understanding of SQL and database management best practices. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain all aspects of database administration, including production, development, and testing environments. Implement and maintain company security policies and procedures as they pertain to databases, ensuring secure access and data privacy. Execute regular system backups and recovery procedures. Collaborate closely with developers to ensure seamless database integration with application development. Ensure high availability features (Always On, Mirroring) are properly configured and maintained. Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions. Perform index creation, performance tuning, and database optimization in both OLTP and BI/Reporting environments. Design and implement data models and database architectures. Utilize SSIS for ETL processes and daily operations. Administer and support production environments, ensuring system reliability and uptime (24/7 support may be required). Develop and maintain executive reports using SSRS. Monitor and tune SQL Server Agent jobs and partitioned tables to ensure optimal performance. Work with public cloud technologies, specifically
Azure , to setup and maintain always-on availability clusters. Utilize development tools such as Visual Studio 2019 or newer, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, and GitHub in day-to-day operations. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 8+ years of experience
as a Database Administrator, with strong expertise in MS SQL Server (2016-2022). Expert-level
experience with
SQL Server High Availability features , including Always On and Mirroring. In-depth knowledge of
T-SQL , including complex stored procedures, functions, and data modeling. Proven track record in
performance tuning , index creation, and query optimization. Experience with
SSIS
for data transformation, as well as
SSRS
for report generation. Solid understanding of
database security
and privacy best practices, including
TDE encryption . Experience working closely with
.NET developers
to integrate and optimize databases with applications. Expertise in
SQL Server Agent job management , partitioned tables, and executing best practices for SQL Server. Strong understanding of
Windows Operating Systems , networking protocols, and data encryption related to database administration. Preferred Skills: Experience with
Microsoft Team Foundation Server
and
GitHub
for source control and versioning. Ability to develop and support
executive-level reporting
solutions. Familiarity with
Azure cloud services
and database management in the cloud. Familiarity with database performance and monitoring tools such as Redgate or Ideara is a strong plus. Key Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. Ability to handle production support across multiple applications. Willingness to work on-call or during non-business hours as needed for 24/7 support.
