Shipping/Receiving Inspector
Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks a Shipping/Receiving Inspector. In this role, you will inspect, test, and audit incoming and outgoing materials, parts, assemblies, and quality control programs to ensure compliance with specifications. This role will also receive incoming material and prepare outgoing shipments. Responsibilities: Inspect mechanical parts using dimensioned drawings and tools such as calipers, micrometers, surface plates, height gauges, gages, optical comparators, CMMs, and other standard inspection devices. Examine electro-mechanical assemblies using microscopes and magnification equipment. Record inspection results, document nonconformances with clear descriptions, and initiate Nonconformance Material Reports (NCMRs). Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Operations to re-inspect parts as needed. Enter data for quality test reports. Conduct first-article inspections, analyze results, and generate inspection reports. Identify necessary equipment, such as custom gauges, for inspection jobs. Support in-process and final inspection activities during production. Communicate discrepancies verbally and in writing to Supplier Quality Engineers and relevant Engineering teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Quality). Perform on-site source inspections at local suppliers as assigned. Support supplier qualification audits with the Supplier Quality Engineering team. Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in compliance with company policies. Unload incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips. Visually inspect received items for damage or defects and report issues to management. Label, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments following work instructions. Complete and maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation according to procedures. Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations with electro-optical assemblies and systems (defense sector preferred). Experience in high-volume production of electro-optical defense systems. Willingness to obtain IPC workmanship certifications (ANSI-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610). Audit experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team. Basic knowledge of inventory management practices. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Additional Information: The applicant must be a US Person.
