Description
About the Role: Hanover Foods is hiring for a
Checker (Forklift Operator)
on the 1st shift in our Distribution department. This position is primarily responsible for operating forklifts to move inventory, support distribution functions, and assist with inventory checks and audits. It plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory flow while following all safety and food handling protocols.
Key Responsibilities: Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move and load inventory. Perform BPCS entries, inventory audits, and distribution documentation. Ensure trailers are chocked before loading. Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory efforts. Comply with all GMP, food safety, plant hygiene, and security procedures. Conduct daily equipment safety checks (fuel/electrical charge, oil, water). Assist in training new forklift drivers and distribution support staff. Qualifications
Minimum:
Certified to operate a forklift or able to obtain certification upon hire. Basic math and data entry skills. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively. Willingness to work overtime and in varying conditions. Strong attendance and safety record. Preferred:
Experience with BPCS or other inventory management systems. Prior food manufacturing or distribution center experience. Familiarity with warehouse control procedures and hand trucks. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling. Work in hot or cold (non-weather) environments and around loud noise.
